The UCSF Cardiovascular Research Institute (CVRI) is at the forefront of discovery science, with a mission to identify, investigate, and solve the most critical questions in cardiovascular and cardiopulmonary biology. Our ultimate goals are to treat, prevent, and cure diseases of the cardiovascular system, and to train the next generation of clinicians and scientists to become leaders in these fields.
The CVRI connects faculty interested in cardiovascular biology and disease across various UCSF programs, departments, and campuses, serving as the administrative home for UCSF’s Center for Tobacco Control Research and Education. The diversity of CVRI’s faculty and its collaborative culture foster a multidisciplinary approach to research, providing a vital link between UCSF’s outstanding clinical and basic science departments.
The CVRI currently hosts more than 50 Principal Investigators, along with hundreds of talented trainees and dedicated staff members. We take pride in our cohesive and inclusive community, where faculty, staff, and trainees are empowered to do their best work. We invite you to explore our website to learn more about our research programs, ongoing projects, and the remarkable individuals who make the CVRI a leading institute in cardiovascular science. Whether you are a researcher, clinician, patient, or simply interested in cardiovascular health, we hope you find inspiration and valuable insights here.
