Our lab studies myocarditis, a T cell–driven inflammatory disease of the heart that presents with a wide spectrum of clinical severity. Although many patients experience a self-limited course, severe cases can progress rapidly to cardiogenic shock and may require heart transplantation. Despite its clinical importance, advances in diagnosis, risk stratification, and treatment remain constrained by an incomplete understanding of the antigen-specific immune responses that drive disease.
In my postdoctoral work, I integrate mouse models of myocarditis with human patient samples to define the fundamental T cell biology underlying myocarditis and to identify immune mechanisms that may inform more precise diagnostic and therapeutic strategies.
