Mark has nearly 30 years of experience in nonprofit administration including 20 years of academic research administration. Prior to joining the team at CVRI, he was the Senior Director of Research Operations & Strategy at the Moores Comprehensive Cancer Center at UC San Diego. He has held senior administrative leadership roles in multidisciplinary research institutes at the University of Arizona Cancer Center and the Johns Hopkins University Institute for Clinical and Translational Research (a CTSA program hub). As CAO, he is responsible for leading the administrative operations at CVRI including finance, space and facilities, HR, IT, and operations and administration.
A native of the Baltimore/Washington area, Mark has also lived in New York, Philadelphia, Tucson, and San Diego. Having always dreamed of living in San Francisco, he is very happy to be in the Bay Area! Mark enjoys travel, theater and film, science fiction, spending time with his pets (Ollie - a Corgi/Shiba Inu mix, and Sophia - a tuxedo cat), meditation, and watching the waves roll in on the beach.
